What's New with Our Members!!

Repertory Theatre Company began it's Summer Musical season with SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, starring our own Jack Agnew.  The show ran from June 19, 2015 through June 28, 2015 at the University of Texas at Dallas Theatre on Floyd & Lookout in Richardson.  Those of us that saw the show can tell you that, as always, Jack was amazing!  We can't wait to see what exciting roles our three resident actors - Jon Morehouse, Jack Agnew and Ashley Agnew - will be tackling next!

Lakewood Leader for August 2015

July 30, 2015

Summer has been busy, happy, and full of new life here at Lakewood UMC.  It is kind of hard to know where to start-- so here goes!

New Banners for Lakewood UMC!

Check out the new banners on Abrams Rd., in front of our church!  These banners were designed to let the world know that ALL are welcome at Lakewood United Methodist Church!

Charleston: Where Are We and Where Do We Go From Here?

[Note from the person posting this:  Below is an excerpt from Rev. Dr. Gayle Landis’ sermon from June 21, the Sunday following the horrific tragedy at the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.  The scripture lesson was from Mark 4:35-41.  In this scripture, the disciples are in a boat when a great storm rocks their world.  A great storm rocked our world this week, too.  The excerpt below begins in the middle of Pastor Gayle’s sermon.]

118 Health Kits!!!

The Lakewood's United Methodist Women, in connection with the Harmony Sunday School class, gathered items for and assembled health kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief.  Health kits provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes because of human conflict or natural disaster. Health kits are also used as learning tools in personal hygiene, literacy, nutrition, and cooking classes.  Kits include hand towels, washcloths, toothbrushes, combs, soap, band-aids and a nail clipper or nail file.

Handbells on Vacation for the Summer

Lakewood UMC's "Sanctuary Ringers" were thrilled to play a patriotic medley for the church celebration on July 5, and are now taking a break from rehearsals for the summer.  Handbell rehearsals will resume in September!

Our Mission Statement

On November 16, 2014, Lakewood United Methodist adopted it's new Mission Statement, becoming the newest Reconciling Congregation in the Dallas Metroplex. Our Mission Statement is as follows:
