On the second Sunday of each month, the United Methodist Women of Lakewood UMC offer fair trade coffees and chocolates for sale after our worship services. In doing this, we support the United Methodist Committee on Relief's (UMCOR's) "Coffee Project," which works with small-scale farmers in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the United States as they build a better future for themselves and their families. Farmers involved in this project earn a fair price for their products, have access to affordable credit, and gain a long-term trading partner they can trust. With your support, these communities invest in education, health care, and agricultural improvements. The Lakewood chapter of the UMW uses proceeds from these sales to support local ministries such as the Wesley-Rankin Center, the Wilkinson Center, the Dallas Bethlehem Center and Crossroads Community Services.
