February 15 | 7:00 p.m. | LUMC Fellowship Hall
As a Reconciling Congregation, we bear witness to our desire to welcome and celebrate the sexual orientation and gender identity of all persons. For some, however, finding new ways of speaking and of relating can be a challenge. We need new words and ways of being truly inclusive. Everyone has blind spots; we need to discover where ours may be.
We will host an Allies Education evening on Monday, February 15, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall here at Lakewood UMC. Allies Education is designed to promote exchange of ideas and greater understanding of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) issues and to engender a culture of mutual respect. Karen Click, Director of the Women and LGBT Center at SMU, is our gifted, knowledgeable guide in this endeavor. She possesses extensive experience speaking with people like us: people who are part of a movement for love and justice.
We hope to see you on Monday evening. Please be in touch with Rev. Dr. Gayle Landis or with me if you have questions. We can look forward to a pleasant time of fellowship and learning together.
