Join us for Patrick and Erin's first Sunday/Fourth of July "Indoor Picnic"
Rev. Patrick and Erin Littlefield will begin their time with us this coming Sunday, July 2. We hope you will join us in worship as we welcome them to the Lakewood family! After worship, we will stay for an "indoor picnic" lunch of hamburgers and fixins. We'll sing patriotic songs together and have some time to greet the Littlefields. We are so pleased to have them with us!

Instead of the usual news of “goings on” in the music department or a hymn story, I’d like to share my thoughts about our church and our future. This is an exciting time in the life of our congregation. We have just bid farewell to one of the wisest and most beloved pastors our church has known. This weekend, we have the honor of welcoming Rev. Patrick Littlefield into our lives. Patrick is a kind and gentle man who will bring his own set of unique gifts to our congregation. Let’s take the wonderful gifts Pastor Gayle left us and build on them with the equally wonderful gifts that Pastor Patrick will bring to us. Change can be challenging, but it can also bring renewed strength and vitality. Mary paraphrased the beautiful text of Natalie Sleeth in her message last Sunday: “In the end, is our beginning…”. This is so true, and applies to this time of transition for our congregation. Come to church this Sunday and Welcome Patrick and Erin and stay for grilled hamburgers with all the fixins, a special cake, and singing to welcome in the July 4th festivities.
In the end is our beginning; in our time, infinity;
In our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory,
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

Grace and peace,
Fourth of July Parade
Join us at 6:00 p.m. (or whenever you can get here) on Monday, July 3, to decorate our float for the Lakewood Independence Day parade! This year we will partner with Union Coffee to make our float and to march in the parade. We will have pizza for dinner while we decorate and it's sure to be a fun time!
On Tuesday, July 4, the parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. For those wishing to march in the parade, we will discuss details at our float decorating party on Monday night.
Serve with us!
On the first Sunday of every month, a team from Lakewood participates in Oak Lawn Community Meal, a weekly homeless meal ministry at Oak Lawn UMC. If you would like to serve with us in the future or would like more information, please contact Eva in the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
